Why The 2010 Summer Will Be One To Remember

Saturday, May 8th, 2010

it is a wide-spread rumour in the media that the 2010 summer will be a great one. For the north European countries that could be translated into less rain, higher temperatures although the countries of southern Europe should expect inferno like temparatures. What is also a fact is that during Word Cup years people tend to travel less and it seems that they enjoy themselves in their homelands too. It is, without any doubt, a very big social event and not just a sport one, considering the huge amount of people that will be following it.

Another reason that increases the prospects for the forthcoming summer is the world cup in South Africa. All football fans are definitely excited about that, which is going to be the first world cup ever to be hosted on African soil. Who doesn’t really like the combination of a hot summer with a lot of football and social gatherings?. After that harsh and long cold winter all Europeans that were affected by recession are really hoping for a great summer.

The most typical summer scene the majority of the people have in their mind is about being with the best friends or family all around the TV set being completely absorbed by the football crowd’s noise coming out of those portable speakers. The young ones will be all around the place, chasing each other or just playing with their outdoor toys, such as a remote control helicopter, while the grown ups will be pouring beer out of a beer dispenser. And for those who do not enjoy watching sports on television, there is a place by the barbecue.

Hopefully for many, there’s no room for mistakes in the scientist’s forecasts for the summer. Until then let’s keep our fingers crossed!

Football Forums Explained

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

A forum, or message board, is defined as an “online discussion website”.  The online software allows its members to post messages to one another.

The forums often have a specific theme linked to them.  One of the more popular subjects is a football forum, where users can chat about their teams, latest games, cup ties and matches.

These forums have been known to forge friendships, although football forums have been known to cause quite the opposite effect by fueling hatred and “flaming” between rival fans.

Some of the larger football forums on the Internet have as many as 40,000 regular users who post all the time about their teams trials and tribulations.  The more regular and trusted members often become ‘moderators’, who are a sort of super-user that can edit and delete posts, topics and categories, aswell as move topics to their rightful place on the forums, and just perform general maintenance.  Being a moderator on a forum often brings kudos from other users, and as such it is quite a sort after position.

The die-hard fans who tend to use the football forums are generally the strongest supporters of the clubs, and are very often season ticket holders, or frequent matches on a regular basis.  Because the forums act as a strong platform where fans can meet one another, they are often used as a very successful tool for organising trips to away matches and competitions.

There are lots of football forums on the Internet.  Some of the forums cater better to different people’s tastes.  For example, there will probably be a forum purely for the football team that you support, even if it’s a small sunday-league team.  There are also forums with categories for every league in every country in the world.  There really is something for everyone.

Because of the sheer size of the Internet as well as the popularity of football as a sport, there is a huge market for forums.  Aswell as the huge amounts of people there are also a huge amount of tastes that cannot be satisfied with one large forum – some users will prefer the intimacy of a small forum with a select few users who all know each other, over the monolithic forums with thousands of new posts every hour.

For a lot of people a football forum will be the first web site that they visit, and one of the first activities they will do in the morning will be to check for latest posts on the forum about their team, or for replies on a specific topic.Football is so close to so many people’s hearts it is totally reasonable that football forums get so many users and so much of a following.

Although football forums have brought a huge amount of joy and a great past time for so many people, they have been known to cause pain and destruction.  Just like any other sort of social platform on the Internet, it can be open to cyber bullying.  Most forums carry private messaging functions, allowing members to privately message other members – this can lead to users getting bullied in private, away from where moderators and administrators can control what is being said.  As well as this, it has been known that football forums can be used by hooligans to organise crime against rival gangs and clubs.

2010 World Cup Favourites

Friday, April 30th, 2010

Trying to guess what country is going to win the world cup in South Africa is a hard bet. Football journalists, veteran football players and the like, all agree that luck will be one of the decisive factors, not just skill and fitness. It’s not uncommon that superpowers have experienced early exits or even outsiders progressing more than anyone could ever imagine.

Turkey managed to reach the semi-finals and finish 3d in the 2002 World Cup, which was something that not many people would expect. Or, speaking about Italy, how many people did really expect them to win the 2006 cup? Of course there are some undisputed favourites as this is always the case but not seeing them winning the trophy should not be a big surprise. Historically, Brazil are the biggest favourites just because they have participated in all competitions and have won the trophy more times (5) that any other team. Italy – as the current trophy holders and Germany follow, because of the amount of times they have managed to reach the final. The Germans have been very consistent as they have reached the final several times in the last 15 years whereas Italy won the last competition.

Given that weather experts are talking about one of the warmest summers ever that sounds like it’s going to be a summer to remember. Once again, friends and families will get together, preferably outdoors, to enjoy that great summer social event that takes place once every four years. So, all you need is a garden, someone to look after the bbq, a big TV screen, a pair of wireless speakers and some good company. It will be fun also for the kids as they can run outdoors, play with their rc helicopter or just watch the game.

It has been such a long anticipation since the previous world cup that it’s very understandable why so many millions of people are looking forward to the 2010 games. So let’s get ready then!

Spanish Soccer’s Best Players Right Now

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

There are plenty of soccer superstars plying their trade in Spain’s top division, and it is rightly regarded as the number one domestic league in the world. Listed below are the players who are currently regarded as being the best in Spain…

Messi : Spearheading Barcelona’s treble winning team of 2008-09, Argentinean Lionel Messi continually dazzles Europe with his creativity and flair. Even though he is just 22, he is the current “World Player of the Year” and, if he remains injury free, he is likely to chalk up awards, goals and assists for many years to come.

Cristiano Ronaldo : Blistering pace and explosive power are what led to Ronaldo initially being signed by Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson. Now playing for the mighty Real Madrid, Ronaldo is hoping to make as big an impact for el Madrid as he did in the famous red shirt of Man Utd.

David Villa : Playing for Valencia, who are not one of the most glamorous teams in the league, David Villa Sanchez (to give him his full name) boasts an absolutely outstanding goals to games ratio. He was the winner of the “Golden Boot” for Spain at Euro 2008 (which means that he scored more goals at the tournament than anyone else) and is expected in the near future to become Spain’s all time highest goal scorer. Equally dangerous with either foot, Villa has attracted a host of top clubs, who are all eager to land this prolific striker’s elusive signature.

Kaka : Brazilian midfielder Kaka, is a creative genius. Able to make pinpoint passes across the entire length of the field, or dribble past several players in a row, Kaka was the darling of AC Milan and led them to “Champions League” success in 2007. Now one of the jewels in Real Madrid’s crown, he aims to bring the La Liga title back to the Bernabau (where Real Madrid play their home games) after a few years absence.
