Soccer Scholarships – 5 Tips to Beat foreign the bunch

Monday, December 28th, 2009

Soccer scholarships are getting harder to get every season. As soccer continues to grow in popularity each year, there is more competition for the limited number of scholarships for NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA colleges and universities. The good news is, if you are willing to put in as much or more effort towards your recruiting and scholarship search, as you do on the field, then you can guarantee your self success.

Here are 5 tips to separate yourself from the competition:

1. Olympic Development Program (ODP) Each state and region has an Olympic development program for soccer. Most athletes are offered soccer scholarships from these teams. While you also must play on your high school team, the competition has become so intense that college coaches almost exclusively recruit from these leagues.
2. Academic Grades I know you must hear this everywhere but it can not be emphasized enough. Just having a GPA below 3.0, excludes yourself from being recruited at almost 50% of NCAA schools. Gone are the days when an athlete could just meet minimum NCAA academic standards. You must also meet minimum admissions standards for the college. Do not lose out to another athlete because of your grades. There is no excuse anymore for this one.
3. Athletic Maturity Coaches want a player that can stand up to the pressure of the collegiate game. Do you lose your head when your team loses or gets scored on? Do you change your style of play, get weaker as the match goes on? Coaches are watching and you must be able to maintain your performance under pressure and losing situations.
4. Athletic Range Are you able and willing to play fresh than individual position? Have you already peaked leverage high brainwash or would you get bigger under a collegiate soccer program’s coaching and resources? Coaches want players who are willing to do whatever the team needs. They also want players who guilt continue to polish and grow as a player throughout their college playing specialty.
5. Financial Ability Is your family willing to pay tuition combined with athletic aid from a college? Soccer is a “equivalency” sport in the NCAA. Most scholarships are only partial and seldom do we see actual full-rides for soccer. Communicate to the coach that you are willing and able to pay to go to college here to cover the rest of the tuition. Coaches do not want to haggle or waste time with athletes who are not serious about attending if they do not get a full-ride.

Use these five tips to start developing your recruiting plan. With the number of high school soccer players and increasing number of foreign students also getting recruiting for soccer scholarships, you need to start early and start fast. A solid plan can help you overcome obstacles to your scholarship search and place you above the competition.

How Good Are The Football Referees In The Premiership?

Monday, December 28th, 2009

What do you think of the current standard of the football referees in the English Premiership? Do you think a system of video replays should be introduced to help these referees and to stop what are some important mistakes being made? These two questions are things which myself and my friends debate on a regular basis, especially after a few beers.

Do not get me wrong; I am fully aware that I have never been involved in professional football in any shape or form; I am actually involved in various projects to do with stuttering treatmentDVD duplication service and about training for foster carers.

There was a match a number of seasons ago which sticks in my memory, a bad memory at that. It was a very important match between my favourite team Birmingham City and one of their local rivals Stoke City. The match was of great importance as Birmingham were in real danger of being relegated. The three points for the win would certainly have helped them in their quest to survive.

With only around ten minutes of the match remaining Birmingham were leading a tense match by one goal to nil. At this stage one of the Stoke City footballers clattered into the B’ham City goalkeeper, who had the football firmly in his grasp, over. The ball slipped from his grasp and one of the other Stoke players kicked it into an unguarded net.

It was a mystery to many of the home supporters as to why the referee had not blown up for a free kick to Birmingham, I for one was fuming. To my and all of the other Birmingham supporters horror, he did not and he let the goal stand. I am normally quite a calm person but became so angry it was untrue. The next thing that happened was one of the Birmingham fans ran onto the pitch and fully punched this referee in the face. The players were taken off the pitch while order was restored.

I remember thinking at the time that this referee had deserved to be hit, but I later changed my mind, once I had had time to calm down. We are all capable of making a mistake of course.

I personally think that the overall standard of referees in the Premiership is very good and that we should start to get off these peoples back. I would however like each referee to be interviewed after each match in the same way as the football managers are. By doing this they could explain to the supporters why they made certain decisions during the match.

The Most Secure Way To Purchase Manchester United Football Tickets Online

Monday, December 28th, 2009

Purchasing Manchester United football tickets online is actually a pretty safe way to get them, but there are scammers out there and it is important to be aware of how they operate. If you buy tickets from an online vendor who has a good reputation, you can protect yourself when you plan to buy manchester united football tickets. It’s always a good idea to search for customer reviews before you purchase from a particular vendor. Not only do you have to worry about an illegitimate site taking your money, you also do not want to purchase from a vendor who has a reputation for being slow on delivery. If your are reading a review on line you need to be able to tell the difference between someone’s genuine report and a virtual plug put there by the company of person. If you see a hyperlink at the bottom of the review, that can help determine whether it is true or paid for.

A legitimate customer reviewing a product doesn’t usually have a reason to post a link to the very product they are reviewing. Advertisers have found a new way to advertise since most email spam blockers today block their ads, and so they turn to reviews. There is a bigger chance for a review to be legit if a review is link free. Although tickets available on eBay are cheaper, buying from a website which specializes only in tickets is always a better idea. There can be issues with EBay sellers not sending tickets on time, or perhaps they will neglect to send them all together. But if you decide to purchase this way make sure you read their feedback to get a better idea of how professional they are and most people you do business with on eBay are honest.

Another way to avoid being scammed is to make sure the checkout page is encrypted before you type in ANY purchasing information. This is a feature not many people look for when checking out, but the importance of it can not be understated. What are the signs that will tell you if a web page is encrypted? You will see HTTP at the start of a website address Web pages which are encrypted contain “HTTPS” in their address, not the usual “HTTP”. It is important to make sure the page is encrypted even if the company is completely honest, because sometimes it does not show respect for the customers and the security of their personal information. If you are interested in a ticket vendor, they have good reviews, and their check out page is encrypted, then you can be pretty certain that the vendor is safe to purchase from.

It is also important to go with your gut and these guidelines are important to follow in order to avoid being scammed. If something about a vendor does not seem quite right, do not purchase anything from them. If something seems off then there is a good chance something is. Doing some research will prove invaluable in fending off scam artists. Now it just comes down to a matter of finding the best price! You will be able to make your next purchase with confidence after reading all the information on this article.

Manchester United To Buy Slovakian Star Midfielder

Monday, December 28th, 2009

According to reports, Manchester United have lined up a £25m summer transfer bid for Napoli midfielder Marek Hamsik.

Many critics believe Manchester United’s biggest weakness is the midfield and the fact that Paul Scholes form hasn’t been great and Ryan Giggs is not getting any younger may convince Alex Ferguson to make some player transfers come January.

Signing the talented Hamsik, who is also a target for Chelsea and was reported to be on Liverpool’s radar earlier in the season, would certainly give United an added attacking threat from the midfield. Starting his career with Slovan Bratislava the Slovakian international quickly proved his ability and was bought by Brescia. He shone in Italy with Brescia scoring a hugely impressive ten goals from midfield and it wasn’t too long before Napoli paid over 5.5m Euros to take the player to the Sao Paolo.

Since joining Napoli in 2007, Hamsik has established himself as one of the finest box to box, goalscoring midfielders in Serie A. His impressive record of 25 goals in just 81 games bears comparison with some of the finest midfielders in Serie A and there are many strikers who would be proud to boast a similar strike rate. The Slovakian midfielder has quickly been named the best midfielder in Serie A by experts throughout Italy after his two goals against Juventus.

Hamsik’s performances have been equally impressive for his national side, Slovakia. Expected to be one of the major stars of the upcoming World Cup his efforts might put him down into soccer history forever.

Riccardo Bigon however has stated over the last few weeks that they have no intention of selling the player.

“Manchester United are after Hamsik? If we rejected the rumours regarding a friend like [Carlo] Ancelotti and his Chelsea, it is obvious we also reject these rumours.”

These comments have since been substantiated by Napoli chairman Aurielo De Laurentiis who confirmed:

“Many clubs have requested Hamsik, it’s true, but he will stay with us for the long-term”

Manchester United hope to make their move in Summer and if Napoli’s stance will remain the same is still unknow. Whether Napoli really plans to keep Hamsik into the future only time will tell, with not a lot of cash in the club it can be hard to see them not be at least tempted to sell the player if the offer is right.

Chelsea’s desperation to buy players may push any deals between the two clubs away. Roman Abramovich has purportedly given manager Carlo Ancelotti the green light to make a £25m move for the player so. However with Chelsea set to be banned from transfers from February, it seems likely that the Blues will only be able to make a move for Hamsik during the transfer window and as such, the Londoners could gazump United’s own plans for the midfielder many pundits feel is cut from the same cloth as Frank Lampard and Paul Scholes.
